Ablative Erbium Laser

An ablative laser creates ‘holes’ skin that penetrate beyond the first layer (epidermis) in the second layer (dermis). This deeper penetration allows for more correction of deeper lines and wrinkles. Because this treatment is ablative, it does have down time of 5-7 days. The results form this treatment are the most dramatic from the stand-point of skin texture improvement and wrinkle correction.

This aggressive form of laser resurfacing uses a handpiece to deliver intense heat to vaporize skin cells (as compared to non ablative lasers that do not destroy skin cells), and the fractional laser technology means the laser is targeted to a specific treatment area.

  • The Erbium YAG Fractional 2940nm laser is an effective and precise solution for epidermal and superficial dermal remodeling, including ablative laser resurfacing. It offers both doctors and patients the benefits of a controllable and rapid recovery process. With a fractional laser source that operates in the infrared spectrum, this machine has a high affinity for water in tissues, making it an excellent choice for skin resurfacing and scar removal. With 16 times more water absorption than CO2 lasers, the 2940nm wavelength offers effective results while being less aggressive to the skin.

  • he recovery time after an Erbium YAG fractional laser treatment is generally shorter compared to traditional ablative laser treatments. The treatment is designed to leave surrounding tissue intact, reducing side effects and speeding up healing. The exact recovery time may vary depending on the individual and extent of treatment.
