How does the Icon laser work?
The breakthrough technology behind the Icon laser system allows you to get a wide variety of skin care treatments right in the office, without needles or surgery. The Icon has several handpieces. Depending on your skin care needs, your Kind Dermatology & Medical Spa provider will select from several handpieces to customize your treatment.
The MaxR handpiece targets hair with color. The MaxR works on all skin types (light to dark) to remove hair on all areas.
The MaxYS handpiece delivers higher peak power to treat difficult to treat hair that is lighter and finer. It also delivers optimally filtered light to treat dark brown spots of the skin.
The MaxR handpiece clears redness, blood vessels, and pigmented lesions like freckles and age spots. The MaxG offers superior treatment of larger, deeper facial vessels with a unique combination of Dynamic Spectrum Shifting and dual-band filters, which provides more even heating across the entire diameter of larger blood vessels.
The 1540 Fractional Laser is a non-ablative laser for skin resurfacing and treatment of surgical scars, acne scars, stretch marks, and melasma.
The 2940 Fractional Laser, otherwise known as an Erbium YAG laser, is a sophisticated, single treatment ablative laser for treatment of wrinkles and textural irregularities. The unique Groove™ Optic pattern offers high ablative coverage with fast recovery and minimal downtime.
During treatments, Icon sends beams of energy deep down into your skin, well below the surface level. This triggers a cascade of healing events that encourage cells to regenerate and develop new tissues, including skin-tightening collagen.

Treatment with the 2940 Fractional Ablative laser often only requires one treatment for wrinkles and skin resurfacing.
